To Luke Pollard, MP for Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport.

I have just watched a video. It was of a 12 year old boy in Gaza. A journalist asked him what he had in a plastic bag he was carrying. He was collecting up the fingers and the ears of his neighbour, who had been blown up by an Israeli bomb. He wanted the man to be reunited with his fingers and ears in heaven. It broke me.

Last week saw the International Court of Justice rule that Israel’s actions in Gaza were “plausible” genocide and that Israel must “take measures to prevent : ”

• “killing members of the group”
• “causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group”
• “deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part”
• “take immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance to address the adverse conditions of life faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip”

Israel has, of course, done none of these things. The ICJ ruling made page 40 of The Times. The BBC covered Israel’s failed objections live, but didn’t stream the harrowing accusations from South Africa at all. Our press are deeply complicit.

Instead we see accusations against UNRWA, based on “evidence” obtained by Israel through “interrogation”. Israel routinely tortures prisoners. Israel routinely lies. But several countries have eagerly announced that they will cut funding for the agency that feeds, clothes and shelters thousands of Palestinians. Their lifeline. A gross breach of the clause above, making the UK very clearly complicit in the genocide.

We have seen our politicians queue up to support the slaughter.

The report continues, quoting thisIsraeli ambassador to the UK, Sir Keir Starmer -

"Clearly the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have to be dealt with," he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Breakfast programme, "their attacks on commercial shipping, attacks on important trade routes and putting civilian lives at risk and therefore, we do support this action".

‘Putting civilian lives at risk’. Firstly the Houthi ‘rebels’ have not been killing, but under gun point directing all ships to or from the Israeli port of Eilat (2)away from the Red Sea. They have added to their ‘interdiction’ all vessels that have ownership tied to Israel eg the Zim line. Secondly they have bravely been observing the Genocide Convention (3) 09 December 1948 in peacefully attempting to stay the hand of the ‘only democracy in the ME’ in its mass homicide and the planned famine and epidemic disease to follow the carpet bombing, the cutting of all food, fuel and potable water. (4)

The Zionist cabal in the Westminster bubble, separated from the mass of the population which continues to run Britain more or less effectively, pretends that the Houthi action threatens UK security. That is the ‘legal’ basis for US and UK bombing of Houti targets of over 50 Houthi targets during last night. That there is no legal basis - as with the war on Iraq, is the reason why the bombing will not be debated in the ‘Palace of Westminster’ until Monday at the earliest. So the second step to WW3 has been agreed on this side of the ‘pond’ by a man of Hindu parents and an ex- Director of Public Prosecutions (5).

The Apogee - the Culmination in Palestine - the Hinge of Humanity

Homo non-sapiens can veer from Luciferan blood lust to the most beautiful and ethereal.  I think of Yehudi Menuhin in his art, of Archbishop Romero, of Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and of the millions who put self second. And of those truth tellers who strove but who were set aside and kept away from the distracted, ill informed and semi-conscious populations. John Pilger left this 'veil of tears' last Saturday. The BBC, the ZBC, records it but shunned broadcasting his words and film. (1)(2)

October 7th of 2023, the 'break out' from the largest concentration camp ever created, is reported as pivotal in this culmination of elemental evil now seen via Al Jazeera. Just as Zionist evil swells ever larger in the other remnants of Palestine - 'East' Jerusalem and the ineptly called 'West Bank'. Journalists, doctors, paramedics are 'eliminated' along with whole families, one recently numbering 70. These sacrifices, this infinite negation of the sanctity of life, is neatly done at arms length by Hariri style 'AI', appropriately named by the Israel High Command as Gospel and Alchemist. (3). But the goading of a captive but resistant native population has been there in the Land of Milk and Honey since about 1885 when the first Zionists started 'settling' and dispelling Palestinian land workers from that fertile land.

Is this four year long Operation Barbarossa of the German fascists rolled up into weeks the zenith of Zionist goading for an even greater evil? Know that the arch priest Netanyahu, recently quoting the 'Bible' in justification, with others using words like 'animals', dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza, rendering another Auschwitz etc has been calling for the destruction of Iran for over a decade. And the Iranians know this, and know too that WW3 and wide annihilation by nuclear fission is minutes away. (4)      

As turkey is washed down with wine in the disintegrating 'western' societies a dear child is crushed to death or shredded every ten earthly minutes in Gaza. Some lie there at this minute, alive - limbs trapped with concrete dust in the lungs. The most terrible and terrifing crucifixion. In Gaza with a population of 70,000 during WW2, an oasis on the Via Maris 2000 years ago. My friend, the  late Eyad Serraj, doctor and psychiatrist, told me how as a young boy he ran through trees, with birds in their boughs to a sparkling sea. There was the glint of fish. He would not have foreseen thousands and thousands fleeing into Gaza by boat and by road in the 'cleansing' of 1948 - continued right up to this second. (5)

I have received no words from you nor your office at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. I address you as a senior citizen who has done his best within OUR NHS and for those suffering in what was called Palestine - the native people.  Those in Gaza especially where I have visited 10 times as a surgeon and 'humanitarian'.

I note via the lowered UK media that your pronouncements vis a vis Gaza and the 'West Bank' have shown some 'movement'.

Quote ITN news 7pm last night-  "They can do more, they must do more, to let aid in. So that's doing more at Rafah, [and] also opening new entry points for aid to get into Gaza. "I'd urge them: Get the aid into Gaza," he added.

Quote MSN News Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron has used a visit to the Middle East to push for British ships to be allowed to deliver aid directly to Gaza.

He also used visits to Jordan and Egypt to hear about the challenges these neighbouring countries have in getting aid to Gaza and to call on Israel to allow humanitarian support in more quickly, iunderstands.

Read the header.  I add this plea in memory of my friend, the late Hedy Epstein. She was a young child in a shtetl in eastern Germany. Her family were anti-Zionist but the majority in the village supported Zionism. Hedy's family perished in the Nazi death camps.

I think I heard you quoted on Classic FM news; I avoid all 'news' bulletins bar these which are restricted to a few minutes only. However, its anti-Palestinian bias is still evident in spite of the brevity.

I could not find a direct quote of your statement but I think you spoke  of 'anti-semitic' utterances in UK schools of having increased in schools by a factor of six in one year.

I am fairly expert in linguistics and attempt in my many writings to be utterly clear as to the meaning of any word I use.  For instance, I reject the word 'islamophobia'. It is immediately pejorative - coupling 'fear' with Islam. And I reject 'anti-semitic'. Not so much because the genetic basis of Arab peoples is 'semitic' in origin, but because it is oblique in meaning. Thus I prefer 'anti-"Jewish", realising immediately that we are all mongrels.  A good example would be the oft quoted genetic origins of about 80% of Israeli citizens who are said to have Khazarian genetic origins and are frankly labeled Ashkenazim in 'Israel'.

But all this racial labeling I reject being a universalist. So my question is this Lord Mann. Are you conflating 'anti-semitic' expression with anti-Israeli sentiment, and 'anti-semitic' with anti-Zionist expression? I suspect you are, and that in doing so you are doing your best to cloak the most terrible crimes of the Israeli/'Jewish' State?  The latter legitimised  by statute in the Knesset.

After Saturday’s bombing raids in the heart of Gaza City killing at least 43 people including 10 children and 16 women, Gazans are once again struggling with traumatic memories. The atrocities that are happening now bring memories. Israeli planes have shattered our families so many terrifying and memorable times for decades. For instance, over and over again for three weeks during Cast Lead in December 2008 and January 2009; seven weeks in July and August 2014.

Collapsed buildings’ blocks and gaping holes in Alwehdah Street where there was normal life a week ago are traumatic sights, triggering memories of those earlier atrocities.

Today there are hundreds of injured people to be cared for in our crowded hospitals which are desperately short of many supplies because of the years of Israeli siege. Huge efforts are ongoing by the community to search for people under the wreckage of the buildings.

Among the people who were killed: Dr Moen Al-Aloul, a retired psychiatrist who treated thousands of Gazans at the Ministry of Health; Mrs Raja’ Abu-Alouf a devoted psychologist who was killed together with her husband and children; Dr Ayman Abu Al-Ouf, with his wife and two children, an internal medicine consultant who was leading the team treating patients with COVID at Shifa hospital.

Memories of every previous trauma are impossible to forget becauseall of us in Gaza always live lacking a sense of safety. The Israeli drones have never left the sky over us between 2014 and 2021. Shelling continued to happen during random nights. Although the shelling was infrequent, it was enough every time to remind us all of what we have been exposed to and will be again.

The weekend’s attack took place without any warning. It's yet another massacre. Just an evening earlier ten people were killed including eight children and two women. One family of seven was wiped out except for just the father and a three month old baby. The father lived because he was not at home, and the baby was saved after being found under the wreckage, protected by his mother's body.
